From start to finish, the digging and sowing of the carrot bed. I should have tested the entire area with a fork first because half way through I found a rock, of sorts. It took a good while to dig it loose and I considered Plan B - using that bed for something shallow rooted instead, but in the end, I enjoyed the challenge
My soil is clay and hard to get to a fine breadcrumb tilth needed for tiny seeds like this so I make a little trench and fill it with seed compost, water it, sow the seeds as per packet instructions and finally sprinkle a fine layer of compost over to cover the seeds.
When starting out with a new polytunnel, bit by bit is the only way to go to avoid injury or burn out. It's like running, build up slowly, take rest days, and keep it fun. Snack often with energising foods and stay hydrated. The garden is more of a fun marathon, like the wine du Medoc run, rather than a 5k race
You'll also find that your gardening community are a great bunch of people, just like running your running bud family if you're that way inclined, like me Garden people share knowledge, seeds and cuttings and are salt of the Earth people
