Things are picking up momentum on the newly launched Sallygardens Forum with some great members sharing news, views, questions and advice. Come and join in, the more the merrier, its all getting very sociable!
If there are categories not yet covered that you think should be, please let me know and I shall add them. The forum is a resource for its users so feel free to give feedback for improvements and changes.
At the moment we are talking about ;
How much space do I need to rear pigs?
Jean would love to know if anybody can identify the breed of her new chickens Follow the link under her post to see photos on her blog
If you are a member of Facebook (registration is free) you can join our new Sallygardens Smallholding group. Share photos, links, questions and chat. Right now we are chatting about garden tools for children and what vegetables to grow in a shady urban garden.
Your forum is a great resource for me - just starting out into the world of livestock. It needs a few more members but I suspect that will happen in due course. Keep up the good work!
I'm not a member of Facebook - my two teenage boys would be very surprised and never let me hear the end of it! Pathetic, I know!
Enjoy your children while they're young ...

Hi Rebecca,
Love the forum! I'll make good use of it!
My first question there is on growing grains, but I don't know what category to put that in. "Outdoor vegetable plot" doesn't seem the right place. Could you add a category about grains, perhaps?
Thanks!

Rebecca, you messaged me a while back about Jacob sheep - sorry for the delay, but I was away. I don't keep sheep (must be the only one around here who doesn't!) but you could get expert and friendly advice from my friends at the Gougane Barra Hotel. They keep lots. Email Breda Lucey at [email protected].

hello everyone. I am sorry to wade into this forum, but i have just returned from 6 months working on an biodynamic & organic small holding near wales. It was a fantastic experience. I am now back in London (my home town), and I am afraid my enthusiasm might wane. I want to keep working in this area but I am so confused where to start. I am interested in growing vegetables mainly, but would love to get in touch with anyone with experience or an interest in starting to farm/market garden. Hope to hear from you. Thanks!
