Peas, one of my favourite things to grow. They are just delicious, bursting with sweetness. I planted nine pea plants in the tunnel this year, and then wondered for quite some time whether or not I'd planted enough. For ages there seemed such a small crop and it looked like there would only be enough for one family meal.
Its funny how I forget things about gardening from one year to the next (must find my veggie notebook!), but I suddenly remembered that with peas ... the more you pick, the more it will crop ... just like sweet pea flowers .... and the same is true for beans. So instead of hanging back for a special meal and saving them all up for the occasion, I went in with wild abandon armed with my scissors and harvested the lot. I was right though, it was just enough for one meal.
Now about ten days later the plants are dripping with peas. Yay. Peas for quite some time to come. Lots of them. I must make of note of that, again, somewhere more prominently this time! .... eat them without holding back to ensure continued cropping.
Beautiful peas! Mine were pitiful this year. I got them in too late and the weather didn't cooperate. I did, however, have some lovely snacks in the garden :-)

I didn't know that about peas and I will have to remember when I am finally able to have my own garden. I love peas.

I can never get peas to grow very well in Wisconsin, however bush beans seem to thrive! Yummay!

I've just discovered this wonderful blog! send some peas this way! If only we could get peas that look that scrummy in London. They are simply the best of veg.

Beautiful veggies. My peas lasted for about 2 months, were devoured from the vine by my granddaughters before they even had any pods. Now they are all dried up and I'm waiting for some string beans.

Beautiful peas. We have tagged you for a meme about eight random things. They could be eight things about you, the garden, hobby horses (of any kind) anything.
Have a peep at the post about Max for the rules, then break every one if you wish. We are cats. We care little for rules unless they are the rules of the moon and stars.
Once we had peas but badgers ate them every one, which was ashame because they were good for attracting mice!

When I was a kid my aunt would send me out with a bucket to pick peas for dinner. But they tasted so good raw that when I came back most of the peas were in my tummy, not the bucket.

Our peas last year were sensational and that was after we pad picked one crop. Don't you just love the colour ... you can't help but love them.

Oh yum there is nothing quite like picking peas off the vine and eating them straight out of the pod!
