I must be taking to rural life like a duck to water. I had to laugh when I woke up to this scene, it spoke volumes to me … wellington boots beside my bed. Long ago seem the days of high (ok more like ‘medium’!) powered business suits and matching filo-fax. Nowadays I’m more concerned with mucking about outdoors with the children getting them acquainted with local wildlife and plants. We forage under stones, at lake shores, up trees, down ditches and anywhere we might find a new creature to investigate! If we don’t know what its called, they ask me to look it up in a book! The children have no fear of creepy crawlies, and when I do, I don’t let it show! These little girls delight in finding a stash of woodlice, or an enormous black slug. They don’t hesitate to pick it up and bring it indoors to share their discoveries with me! They would have been in creepy crawly paradise if they had clapped their eyes on this little beauty that Conor found yesterday.
This post really made me smile, not only cos we have the same wellies (I love my dark blue Dunlops!) but because mine are by my bed too, they are such a big part of life in the wilds. I am really enjoying reading your blog:)
