Goodness me I didn't quite realise that you weren't experienced with horses. I was brought up with them and it's all second nature to me. Lucky you have people who you can call on because you have a very steep learning curve here especially with a "little one" as well. Don't worry though with the right guidance, and it sounds as if you are getting it, you'll make an excellent horsewoman.

Does Conan have blue eyes?

Wow, having had a little experience with ponies as a teenager, I can appreciate how difficult it is when the horse decides to test you. Well done for calling in the experts and getting it sorted so quickly. best of luck with the next 'test'!

Hi, I just thought I'd drop in and say how much I am enjoying your blog. I used to read your craftworker one too. Good luck with your newest arrivals, I rather liked the way the piggies made an entrance and a swift exit so I hope this is quickly solved too!

We had the same roller coaster ride you had...only we had very little advice and people to help so it lasted longer!! Well done and good luck with Sally and Conan...they look beautiful :)

The horses look wonderful. I feel for you, every experience you have seems like a wonderful adventure to us readers.

Take good care, we'll (me and the children) be talking about you and thinking of you guys with Sally and Conan, much loveX

Wow, sounds like you had quite a trial with Sally. Glad you managed to get some excellent advice, and quickly too. I've never really been around horses much, but I find with all animals it's such a learning curve. Cats and chickens - no probs! We had a stray cat that turned out to be xenophobic - I've turned him around into a more relaxed, happy boy who's been living with us and our troop for a good 3 years now. It feels so good when you break through those barriers and make a connection with the animal doesn't it?

Good luck with Sally, hope all is going well with her and Conan since you posted x

Just like children, horses do not come with directions. Good luck!! Love to read about your adventures. All we have in northern Wisconsin (US) is a small garden, hunting and fishing. Not too sustainable but it is a start.

I have an alpha mare - she's 23, we have a great relationship, but once in while I have to remind her still who is head of our little herd of two!

Congratulations!! They are both absolutely gorgeous. You will be wonderful guardians for these beautiful horses. I am sure you will be a great Alpha Mare.

Well done, you are having quite an adventure, I have enjoyed following the tale. I hadn't realised that it was possible to foster horses, it is a great scheme. I wish you luck and many happy hours with your new companions and look forward to hearing more...

Hi Rebecca.
Sounds like a real battle of wills and far worse than a stroppy teenager because those teeth and hooves can really do some damage (I have a couple of scars from working in a stable in my teens). Great tough that you had the presence of mind to get some help straight away and hopefully you've got the problem nipped in the bud.
Sorry I've not been to visit much recently - you and your family are often in my thoughts as I day dream about living a more rural existence. Good to know that you're hanging in there and making things work through your sheer determination and passion. You're an inspiration x

Keep up the good work! :)

What an interesting post Rebecca. I am so glad to read that you finally got your horse...or as it turned out, two.

Good luck with the training.

Marie x

Good luck with the training, hope everything is going well for you. I always love to read about other horse owners and their experiences.
