Many people have been in touch since I first posted about our living willow house. Quite a few have had willow houses made in their own gardens by Brenda as a result. Others are interested to see what ours looks like now after a season of growth. Well we are not disappointed, far from it in fact. The bare skeleton of initial interwoven branches burst into leaf in early spring. Twice during the summer I spent literally a few minutes weaving the newly grown branches in and out of the existing structure.
The result is that the willow house blends so well into the surrounding garden that its difficult to take a photograph that picks it out clearly! Inside there is a lovely leafy green canopy overhead which gives a comforting green hue to the incoming light. The children love playing inside and we plan to put a little table and a couple of chairs in it for them in spring.

It's absolutely magical - what a joy their childhood must be.

Magical and delightful! My children are older teens now. I will I have thought about these when they were littles. We did make houses out of sunflowers and morning glories, though.

Looks great. I've been wondering on and off throughout the year how it's progressing!

I have arrived here through Vallen Queen - and first thing I see is your willow house.
I have a willow arch made a few years ago - and it is amazing how quick they grown. I needs a severe 'Mohican' style hair cut three times a year.
Off to explore your blog

Is there room for another visitor to the Willow House? I came over from Vallen's blog. If she recommended you then I know I'm going to enjoy visiting here.
I'm going back through some of the archives to get acquainted.
